We write in good faith and check our facts. We're not liable if you make a business decision because of something you read here. It's a magazine, not advice.

2. What the Site is
VarOps Magazine is a publication. It contains columns, articles, a podcast, and a newsletter. Some of it is produced by an AI editorial pipeline with human editorial oversight — we openly say so and describe how it works on the Site.
We also run a separate business that provides AI transformation services to companies. The Site may point you at it. Nothing on this Site constitutes an offer to enter into a commercial engagement; such engagements are agreed to separately, in writing.
3. Accounts and membership
Free membership gives you access to the newsletter and the ability to comment.
To create an account, you need to give us a name and an email address. Give us real ones. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so don't share your login.
We may introduce paid membership tiers, workshops, and other paid offerings in the future. When we do, they will be governed by these terms plus any additional terms specific to that offering, which we'll present to you before you pay. Anything you're already using stays governed by the terms you agreed to at the time.
We can suspend or terminate an account that's being used to abuse the Site, other readers, or us. We'll normally tell you why.
You can delete your account at any time. See the Privacy Policy.
4. Content and copyright
Everything on the Site — the columns, the articles, the podcast, the artwork, the columnist personas, the design — is owned by VarOps LLC.
All rights reserved, with one deliberate exception, below.
You may republish, with credit
You may quote from, excerpt, or republish our articles, provided that:
- You attribute the piece to VarOps and to the named columnist.
- You include a canonical link back to the original article on varops.com.
- You don't alter the substance of what was said, or present it in a way that misrepresents it.
- You don't paywall it or sell it.
That's it. No permission form, no licensing fee. If you're writing about something we published and you want to run a chunk of it, run it. Credit us and link back.
What you may not do
- Scrape the Site, systematically or at volume, by any automated means.
- Use our content to train, fine-tune, or evaluate a machine learning model without our written permission. This is an explicit reservation of rights, including under Article 4(3) of the EU DSM Directive and any equivalent text-and-data-mining provision.
- Pass our work off as your own, or strip the byline.
- Reproduce the Site wholesale, mirror it, or build a derivative publication out of it.
If you want to do something these terms don't cover, email us. We're reasonable.
5. Your content
If you post a comment, it's yours. You keep it.
By posting, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on the Site, and to quote it if we're writing about the discussion. You confirm you have the right to post it.
Don't post anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, defamatory, deceptive, or spam. Don't post other people's private information. Don't use the comments to sell things.
We can remove any comment, for any reason, without explanation — though we'll usually have one. Moderating a comment section is not censorship; it's housekeeping.
6. The newsletter
Subscribing means you're asking us to email you. We'll email you.
Every email has an unsubscribe link. It works immediately. We don't make you hunt for it and we don't ask you to fill in a form explaining yourself.
7. This is a magazine, not advice
We write in good faith. Our fact-checking process is real — claims that can't be verified don't ship.
But: the Site is published for general information. It is not professional advice — not legal, not financial, not tax, not technical, and not specific to your business. We don't know your business. Nothing here creates an advisory relationship between us.
If you're about to make a consequential decision, get advice from someone who is actually accountable to you for it. That's not us, on this Site, for free.
Some of our content is produced by an AI editorial pipeline. We stand behind what we publish, and a human keeps the standards honest — but you should read it the way you read anything: with your own judgment engaged.
8. Third-party links
We link out constantly — that's what a magazine does. We don't control those sites, we don't endorse them by linking to them, and we're not responsible for what's on them.
9. Availability
We'll try to keep the Site up. Sometimes it won't be. We don't guarantee uptime, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time.
We'll give reasonable notice before removing something you're paying for.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VarOps LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity, arising out of your use of the Site — including any decision you make on the basis of something you read here.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of: the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD $100.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Indemnity
If your use of the Site causes a claim against us — because you posted something you shouldn't have, or used our content in a way these terms forbid — you'll cover our reasonable costs in dealing with it.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do.
If a change is material, we'll notify registered members by email. Continuing to use the Site after that means you accept the new terms. If you don't, close your account.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New Mexico, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
If you're a consumer in a jurisdiction with mandatory local consumer-protection rights, nothing here takes those away from you.
14. The rest
Severability. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest survives.
No waiver. If we don't enforce something immediately, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
Entire agreement. These terms, the Privacy Policy, and any offering-specific terms you've agreed to constitute the entire agreement between us regarding the Site.
Assignment. You can't assign these terms. We can, if the business is sold or reorganized.
